History - 1970's

Renowned motorcycle racer Roy Jervis opened his motorcycle shop in the 1950's on the corner of Chapel Street and Havelock Street in Ripley and ran it until the 1960's when it was bought by Campian Bros. who were motorcycle wholesalers. A group of local motorcycle enthusiasts, Graham Clifton, Pete Clifton and Father and son Joe and John Walker, bought the business in 1974.

The business was changed to Roy Jervis & Co Ltd in 1977 and Graham's lifelong friend, John (Charlie) Bamford purchased the Walker's shares. In 1978 the shop moved further up Chapel Street near the then Midland bank and was run by Graham Clifton while Charlie pursued his other business interests.

1980's

The Company had been sponsoring Shaun Balls in schoolboy motocross events and Shaun joined Graham to work at the shop in 1983 when he left school. Shaun continued to ride motocross and latterly Road Racing events with some success winning local and national championships.

Shaun became a director in the late 80's taking over from Charlie Bamford to allow him to concentrate on his clothing business.

Roy Jervis & Co Ltd now employ eight full time staff, all keen motorcyclists, and they have earned a reputation as the premier two-wheel centre in the area and the UK - their tag line "Two Wheels Are Our Business" well describes the scope of their business today.

Whilst scooters still form an important part of the business the Company has, over the last 5 or 6 years, started to specialise in exceptionally clean, extremely low mileage motorcycles of all sizes and makes and has gained a reputation throughout the UK as a provider of excellent motorcycles.
